This LiquidArt fountain is perfect when space, or a budget, is limited. The kit includes a very realistic-looking, hand-made GFRC (concrete) "faux" bubbler that has been molded from a natural stone. It provides the durability, look, and texture of a rock bubbler, without the weight of natural stone! It only weighs approximately 25lbs, and is easy to position on the fountain base without having to use expensive equipment. The "bird-bath" style bowl in the top of the rock, holds about an inch of water, which then gently cascades over the sides and back into the hidden water reservoir. The fountain base (reservoir) is completely self-contained. It holds approximately 12 gallons of water, and the submersible magnetic-drive pump can move 396 gallons per hour. The pump, water flow adjustment valve and hose are all included, pre-cut, pre-glued and ready to go. Simply screw the connections together, fill the reservoir with water, plug your pump in, sit back and enjoy your fountain!

Replacement Window Reviews

!±8± Replacement Window Reviews

One thing is for sure, getting your home improved is not as cheap as it may seem. This is especially true if you are looking for the best top class undertaking that will make you feel like you live in a palace. Similarly, finding the best replacement windows is not as easy and often not as easy but there is a way. Let me quickly provide a review on the important aspects of replacement windows to help stir you towards the right direction - for both yourself and your wallet.

For starters get rid of the notion that vinyl or aluminum replacement window will never need repainting. Most dealers will tell you that these will always be shiny and looking new - let me say it right now - that's a lie!

Secondly, you need to choose windows that have different low-e glazing. This is because your home has different sides that face different directions. However, it may be quite difficult to find a contractor that is willing to customize them for you mostly because they get bulk discounts from their suppliers so when you ask them to custom make it means buying a single window, which reduces their profit margins. For example, If you want or need a different low-e glazing, you will be charged extra, providing that they offer this option.

Anyway, my point is, have low-e glass for the southern part of your home and the northern part should have the lowest u-value windows installed. There is usually no fuss about the east and western part as they may have the same U-value as the northern windows.

One of the types of windows to consider are sound proof windows. Who does not know the value these windows can bring to someone in search of peace and quiet? They are simply placed inside of the home rather than the exterior. What keeps the sound off is the airspace between the soundproof window and the other window that is normally attached along. Interestingly you do not have to replace your current window when you decide to install soundproof windows in your home.

Waterproof Paint

!±8± Waterproof Paint

Water damage can come from a variety of sources including surface or rain water, underground water under hydrostatic pressure or internal sources. Waterproof paint applications in effected areas can solve these problems for you.

The next time you take a shower, consider the damage you may be causing to your home. Actually, one shower won't cause moisture damage in itself, but together with washing clothes, steam from cooking, and dishwashing, a good deal of moisture is added to the atmosphere of your home each day. And on the outside, rain and snow regularly drop a good deal of moisture on your house. All these factors can cause extensive damage both to your home's appearance and structure. Moisture can cause ugly rusting or decay of building materials, and blistering or peeling of painted surfaces. It can warp wood, and promote mildew and other fungi growth on our home.

But moisture need not be a menace, if you are aware of its threat and take the proper steps to prevent its accumulation in unwanted areas of your home. You should understand how moisture damage occurs, learn how to prevent future damage, and know how to repair present damage with waterproof paint.

Each year rain, ice and snow can expose the outside of your home to great quantities of moisture. Moisture has historically been the cause of damage to building structures, but because of recent energy-saving measures, environmental factors can cause more havoc to homes than they used to.

As with exterior damage, it doesn't help much to repair the surface of the interior of your home before you have corrected the problems that caused the damage in the first place. Check for interior surface damage in such moisture-prone areas as kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, attics and basements. Before moving forward with a waterproof paint application you will want to be sure to look past cosmetic damage and check insulation and sheetrock to see if it is wet.

The key to preventing future moisture problems inside your home is to make sure your house is tight enough to prevent moisture from entering but at the same time adequately ventilated to allow interior-produced moisture to escape. Most importantly, you want moisture to escape through vents, windows and other openings created for that purpose - not through walls and ceilings where it will eventually cause structural damage.

Certain types of paint can be excellent vapor barriers, helping to keep moisture from permeating walls and ceilings. Vapor barriers, when used to coat interior ceilings and walls, inhibit inside moisture from penetrating these surfaces and damaging insulation and exterior finishes. Many Top Secret Coatings products work well as moisture barriers and there are now special vapor barrier primer (TS-401 Vapor Guard Primer) and waterproof paint (TS 100 1 Part Epoxy, TS-2, TS-4) available as well. A waterproof paint topcoat can be applied over the vapor barrier primer if the latter is not available in the color of your choice.

By ridding your home of moisture traps, promptly repairing any damage, and repainting or re-coating properly, your home will be more energy efficient, protected from harsh weather, and more attractive.

Buying Advice on Surefit Fiberglass Doors

!±8± Buying Advice on Surefit Fiberglass Doors

Doors are some of the most overused yet neglected parts of a house. The front door gets beaten down by forces of nature everyday, changing temperature and persistent use. If you have been out to buy a new door in the last few years, you may have noticed the presence of fiberglass doors along the shopping aisles. That doggie in the window usually costs more than wood doors and comes with a lifetime warranty, with good reason. A fiberglass door can practically last longer than the house where it stands. Fiberglass is the most durable surface material for doors out in the market right now. Products like Surefit fiberglass doors are focused on offering variety and customization, so shoppers can especially enjoy pairing features up to adapt to the home being built or renovated.

There are countless types of doors to be found out there like flush, paneled, single, bifold, French and Dutch doors, and the screens generally layered over exterior doors. Easily an attraction of Surefit fiberglass doors is having an immense number of door styles and parts, so you can find just the ones you need. Door sizes range from 30 to 32, 36 and 42 inches, in heights of 80 and 96 inches. Front entry and utility doors are available, with options for sidelites and numerous choices of frame styles, glass styles, color, finish, and door hardware sets like knobs and handles. Other than fiberwood, Surefit doors have been made using any of patina, wrought iron, good old solid wood, brass and nickel for the main units and the sidelites.

Ultimately, product variety enables customization and competitive pricing. The more door units and parts there are, the more a manufacturer can mark down its prices so products stay enticing to buyers, and the more buyers have an opportunity to mix and match features until they get the door system they want. What Surefit Doors, the company behind the Surefit brand, has done to pull this off has been to forge partnerships with several suppliers, factory-trained installers, finishers and dealers. The result, an easy door program built on affordable custom solutions, appears to be the core guarantee of Surefit Doors to customers. The company promises full turnkey service through sales and aftersales, including installation and support. Architects and remodelers would know that installing a door is best left to professionals, thus an appealing aftersales service.

The decision to capitalize on fiberglass is another advantage. Surefit fiberglass doors are backed by this material's durability, energy and cost efficiency. Fiberglass is resistant to rotting, cracking and warping unlike wood, and to corrosion and denting unlike steel. It is supposed to be eight times stronger than vinyl and twice stronger than steel. It keeps structural integrity over time because it allows frames not to sag and tracks not to jam. Fiberglass insulates three to five times better than wood because it does not conduct heat, and it permits natural light into homes. Altogether, the higher price will be worth it because fiberglass doors and hardwearing and longlasting.

The Difference Between Fiberglass Composite Columns And Fiberglass Columns

!±8± The Difference Between Fiberglass Composite Columns And Fiberglass Columns

Architectural columns can be a great addition to any new home or restoration project. There are many different column styles available today and knowing the difference between the various types of columns can go a long way in determining what will look best for your application.

The most popular columns are made with fiberglass or a fiberglass composite material. The differences between the two materials are the amount of resin used, the thickness of the columns and the weight of the columns. Fiberglass composite columns are made of marble dust, resin and fiberglass. They have a wall thickness of approximately ½" and are considerably heavier than fiberglass columns. Fiberglass columns have no marble dust in their composition. They are produced with fiberglass and resin only. Their wall thickness is approximately 3/16", and they weigh approximately 2 lbs. per square foot. Composite columns are load bearing and true fiberglass (FRP) columns are decorative column wraps.

Both materials have their advantages. The composite columns are more economical in the smaller sizes from 6" in diameter up to 12" in diameter. In the size range from 14"- 18" in diameter, both materials work equally well as far as cost factors are concerned. When you get into larger sizes, FRP columns can be more advantageous for your project because the lighter material costs less to install. For example, a composite column that is 18" in diameter could weigh as much as 400 lbs. A fiberglass column would weigh 125 lbs. You would not need to bring in a crane or a boom to maneuver and install the larger FRP columns. Specifications and personal choice factor into which column works best for your project.

Another difference between the two materials concerns the use of decorative capitals with the columns. The Tuscan style capital and base fits both the composite column and the FRP column the same. These caps and bases side over the shaft on both conditions. They add no height and can easily be trimmed on site, by cutting from the bottom of the shaft, to cut the column to your desired height. When you get to more decorative styles of capitals such as Roman Corinthian, Ionic, Scamozzi, Temple of Winds, Modern Composite and others, the installation method will help determine which material to use. On the composite columns, the decorative capitals are made for load bearing capabilities. They are not designed to wrap around structural supports. This can cause problems when you are trying to hide a 4 x 4 post or I beam. The FRP capitals are a thin walled hollowed shell made for the purpose of wrapping around structural posts.

Both materials come in a variety of styles and sizes ranging from round and square, smooth and fluted, tapered and straight shaft.
